Getting started

Install Panora Navigator, find your way around the window, and learn the five keys that do most of the work.

Install

Get the current version from the Download page. There are two builds, and they are the same app:

  • Installer puts the app into a folder you choose and adds it to the Start menu.
  • Portable is a single .exe. Keep it in any folder, or on a USB drive, and run it from there.

Panora Navigator runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11.

The window

The app opens the way Far Manager does, with two file lists side by side.

  • The top toolbar switches between one panel and two, swaps the panels, reloads them and opens the Settings.
  • Each panel has its own header. In a file panel the first button switches between the list and the tree, the next one picks a drive or a favorite folder, and the path shows where you are.
  • The key bar along the bottom lists the function keys of the active panel. Every key in it can be clicked.

One panel is active at a time: it is the one the keys go to. Tab moves to the other panel.

Five keys to start with

KeyWhat it does
TabGo to the other panel
EnterGo into a folder, or open a file in its editor
F5Copy the marked files to the other panel
F4Edit the file under the cursor
Alt+F1, Alt+F2Choose what the left or the right panel shows

Everything else is in Keyboard shortcuts.

Change what a panel shows

Press Alt+F1 for the left panel or Alt+F2 for the right one, or use the first button in the panel's header. In the menu that opens, Left and Right change the kind of panel, Up and Down move, and Enter picks. A drive's letter or a bookmark's number picks it at once.

A panel can be Files, FTP, Secure storage, Browser, Terminal or Preview. See Panels.

One panel or two

Ctrl+1 shows a single panel and Ctrl+2 brings back two. Ctrl+U swaps the left and right panels.
