Working with files
Copy, move, rename and delete files, drag them between panels, and see what takes up a drive.
Copy and move
Mark the files (Insert or Space), or put the cursor on one, and press F5 to copy or F6 to move. The app asks for the folder, offering the other panel's folder, so the usual way is: open the source in one panel, the destination in the other, and press F5.
Nothing is overwritten without asking. A folder cannot be copied or moved into itself.
Drag and drop
Drag files from one file panel to the other, or onto a folder in either. A drop copies. Hold Alt or Shift and it moves. A label beside the cursor ("+ Copy to ...", "→ Move to ...") shows which it will be. When you drag one of several marked files, they all go together.
Dropping files back into the folder they came from does nothing.
Cut, copy, paste
Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X and Ctrl+V work between the panels. Pasting a copy into the folder it came from makes "name - Copy".
The file clipboard is the app's own, not the Windows one. Files copied in Windows Explorer are not seen in Panora Navigator, and the other way round.
Rename, new file, new folder
F2renames the file under the cursor.F7makes a folder.Shift+F4makes a new file: type its name and it opens in the editor for its type. If a file of that name is already there, it is opened as it is.
Delete
F8 or Delete sends files to the Windows recycle bin, so a mistake can be undone from there.
On an FTP or SFTP server and inside a secure storage there is no recycle bin. Deleting there is for good.
Open and edit
F4, a double click, orEnterin the list opens a file in the built-in editor for its type.F3shows it in the built-in viewer.- "Open" in the right-click menu opens it in the program Windows uses for it.
The right-click menu
A right click on a file gives the same commands as the keys, for those who prefer the mouse.
What takes up the space
The Space manager counts every file on a drive and lists the folders, largest first; go into any of them to see what is inside. It can also list only what was made or changed in the last so many days: what the drive has lately filled with. Counting a large drive takes a while.
